We produced 2,300 bottles of this wine from the Portalegre sub-region, from vineyards located in the Serra de São Mamede. Displays dark garnet color. In the nose reveals a very intense and complex aroma, hints of black fruits, balsamic and spicy aromas from the barrel. In the mouth shows good structure, ripe and smooth tannins, good freshness, long persistence.

Vineyards
Traditional “Gobelet” training system. Old vines with an average age over 90 years. Schist soils with some granitic outcrops.
Grape Varieties
Aragonez, Trincadeira, Grand Noir, Alicante Bouschet and others (Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Moreto, Baga).
Vinification
Harvest by hand. Fermentation in wine press and oak vats. Prolonged skin contact for 4 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged for 18 months in Allier French oak barrels followed by 12 months aging in bottle.
Longevity
10 to 15 years.
